It may seem a long way off right now, but mark my words 3D will be an absolute standard on tablets in times to come. Once the tablet becomes mainstream, 3D will be like air conditioning in a new car.
Think about it, 3D games, 3D films and even 3D graphs, web pages and documents. Technology is getting more and more immersive. Hundreds of years ago people thought that we'd have flying cars and time travelling machines by 2012, well that's clearly not going to happen so let's settle for 3D.
The first step towards this three dimensional tablet world has been made by T-mobile who have just released the G-slate over in the US which makes them the first company to produce a 3D enabled tablet. The price tag? $529 following a $100 mail-in-rebate and 2 year agreement. It seems high, but it's significantly lower than the 2D Motorola Xoom, (which is currently available for $749.)
Along with 3D, the G-slate has everything you'd expect from a high-end tablet- a dual core Tegra 2 processor, 32GB storage, Android 3.0 and an 8.9 screen. And so far reviews have been very positive.
Keep your eyes on this bad boy folks. It's the first time an Android tablet seems to truly have the power to scare the iPad.
