Twitter Down? 503 Service Temporarily Down Error

My daily routine is to check my Twitter account on a Friday evening!  Sad I know!  However, to my dismay and surprise, as I typed in twitter.com, it would appear that twitter is down and is showing a 503 Service Temporarily Down Error.  Only a day ago Facebook was down which showed an influx of people turning to Twitter, however does this mean that Twitter users will move over to Facebook?

So why has this happened?

Twitter recently moved from Ruby-on-Rails to a custom Java Server called Blender to improve faster searches, however could this change have had a knock on effect and this is why Twitter has gone down? It could definitely be the case especially as change over can often bring a few hiccups.

Have you experienced this same problem.  How are you trying you loss of Twitter?  Leave your comments on our Facebook page or below as obviously Twitter is not accessible! :-)

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
