What I’m really excited about at the moment is the hybrid devices which incorporate both laptop and tablet into on neat package. We’re not going to digress into tablet debate 101 but let’s just agree that at least for now laptops aren’t dead, they’re as popular ever and tablets are good but they’re in their infancy. That said; rather than going for one or the other I’d rather be greedy and have both. The combination of touch and type is both fun and useful. Dell know this! and they have created my idea of a perfect laptop which focuses on this dynamic relationship between the laptop and the tablet.
What’s special about the Dell Inspiron Duo is its ten inch HD screen which acts as a standard screen but can also be flipped over where its other side is ready to perform tablet duty. You also get the Dell audio station for crisp sound, a webcam, flash capability and all the things you’d expect from the latest tablet device. Take a look at it below.
In order to market this little beauty Dell has created a fun competition on Facebook for all you music lovers out there. Let’s say the screen side is for Inspiron is for work and the touch is for play. Now which of your favourite tracks would complement each side? In other words, what’s your favourite song to work to and your favourite song to play to? Once you’ve decided you can head over to the Dell Facebook page and choose your two songs for a chance to win a snazzy new Inspiron Duo. Plus you’ll receive a code for £25 (just in case you don’t win one.) (The closing date for the competition is 21st April 2011.)
I had a go and I choose. World In Motion by New Order for play, because I have a distant memory of being incredibly drunk in a kitchen at a house- party sometime last week and stripping off to this classic song. I’m sorry I just shared that with you.
For work I choose a piece from radical composer John Cage. When it comes to working lyrics (usually my favourite part of a song) distract me, thus I turn to ambient, but Brian Eno wasn’t on the list of songs, so I opted for some noise music composition instead. It doesn’t sound the best thing to help concentration does it? But it has no vocals!
So choose your songs and get involved now for your chance to win. Work Play Win on the Facebook page
