Is Steam Heading To iOS And Android ?

The PC gaming market is dominated by Steam, if your not in the know Steam is a platform create by Valve who are behind the Half Life series and was originally created to distribute their games.

But over the years it has mushroomed into an all-encompassing digital games store for pretty much every new PC game that gets released.

Well rumours are swirling around the Steam forums that the founder of Steam Gabe Newell dropped hints of the possibility that Apple and Android could become steam-friendly platforms in the future.

Steam of course finally made the switch from PC to Mac last year and Apple went out of their way to help the digital distributor port their tech to Apple’s platform.

Admittedly Steam hasn’t been that much of a success on Mac, as far were aware, especially if you use the magic mouse, which doesn't really work with many games due to the touch surface.

But the thought of playing the Half Life series on iOS is an exciting one, and it would make perfect sense for both Apple and Valve, as the PC market is declining with success of next generation consoles.

Also part of the same rumour is the ability to record gameplay videos right on the Steam platform without the need for resource hogging third-party software like Fraps for current PC and Mac users. The report cites Valve’s Gabe Newell as the source, but the news isn’t officially confirmed yet.

What do you think about the idea of Steam coming to multiple platforms.
