Seems like, video streaming space can still accommodate a couple of new entrants. The latest player to enter the UK market is Vevo,
which boasts of over 30,000 music videos and you may get to devour these videos in the next few weeks.
The site was originally launched in 2009 and so far had restricted itself to the US and Canada market. The site also has syndicate collaboration with YouTube and it provides the videos to YouTube on a free to watch model.
Vevo is backed by Sony Music and Universal Music and is different from YouTube as it does not feature user-generated videos. So, if you are not interested in sifting through cute kitty videos or suffer through Rebecca Black's 'Friday', then Vevo may be the answer to your prayers. Vevo currently has Universal, Sony and EMI content on its site and already includes bigwig names such as Rihanna and Lady Gaga.
Vevo is certainly on the prowl and is looking to extend its services to North Africa and the Middle East. It is also planning to cover other European countries, Australia and Brazil by the end of this year.
As for the UK, the company said that the service may be launched before the end of this month. However, we are going to be more realistic and are keeping our eyes peeled for an April debut. Not bad, we will say.
So, are you ready to feast on 30,000 high quality videos?
