The iOS 4.3 update which came out March 10th has been Jailbroken. The new version of sn0wbreeze 2.3 beta 1 tool created by iH8sn0w will let users jailbreak their iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 4th gen and iPad. The jailbreak developer has promised to bring multi-touch gestures to these iOS devices but unfortunately for Mac users devices can only be jailbroken on the Windows platform.
In the battle against the hackers Apple’s iOS platform developers have patched several exploits previously used for developing a jailbreaking but obviously these measures are not enough as the 4.3 update has been broken within a week.
With no legal powers against the jailbreakers this cat and mouse game could go on indefinitely. Each time we report an iOS update, it's shortly followed by a jailbreak a few days later. It’s been said before, the only way for Apple to control this is to give consumers what they want.
When are Apple going to ease off their strict app control and start giving more freedom to app developers? The age old Apple excuse is that it is protecting its customers, but why can't they look after themselves if they don't want potentially offensive apps, they won't download them. We don't need Apple saying what is and isn't good for us.
But despite the pressure from Android sales and the jailbreakers Apple shows no signs of opening up its operating system recently we've seen charity apps banned and a wiki-leaks app band (no surprises there. Apple wouldn't touch something political in a million years.)
In the meantime, here's a video of the latest Jailbreak but remember it may be legal but it could brick your device and it will void the warranty.
