Microsoft's first attempt at providing update for its Windows Phone 7 platform proved to be a miserable failure as a large number of
Samsung users found their devices bricked after downloading the update. In certain cases, even a hard reset was not able to bring the devices back to life. In response to such complaints, the company withdrew the update, but fret not, the company finally fixed the problem and resumed the update distribution.
Although, Microsoft still has not provided the reason for such malfunctioning but it reported that the software has been tweaked. The new firmware is not available Over The Air. Once you receive the update alert on your Samsung phone, you will need to plug your phone to a computer for installing the software. The glitch might have been fixed but the debacle has surely put a question mark over Microsoft's potential in mobile phone segment. The company is already an underdog in the segment and hitches like this are only going to make things worse for the company.
Let's just hope that Microsoft will have smoother and bug-free distribution when it pushes its eagerly awaited NoDo upgrade.
