Google is planning to give Amazon a little competition in the movie subscription segment. Apparently, the internet search giant ismulling setting up a subscription based YouTube movie streaming service in the UK. The service is likely to feature unlimited streaming. Google has been engage in talks with several Hollywood studios for some time. However, due to stiff competition prevailing in the States side, the company set its eyes on Europe region. One Hollywood executive has been quoted claiming that the company may launch various channels in Europe, along with subscription based on-demand video service. Google is also looking to spend some serious moolah on this venture.
Although YouTube is one of the biggest online repositories of video content, the site does not contribute much to the company's bottom line. Recently, it was reported that Google is planning to set up celebrity channels on YouTube in order to attract premium advertising. Now, let's see how the company's UK venture turns out to be.
