Apple introduced its MacBook Pro series and announced that the new laptops will get FaceBook app for free, but for all the remaining suckers who do not own this just-released contraption, the app has been priced at £0.59. However, we do not know the fate of people who are already using this app on their iPhones and iPods. Apple has also kicked the branding a notch up by renaming its in-device camera as "FaceTime camera". Now, Apple looks all set to challenge Skype and other video calling services.
FaceTime app allows for HD video calling between new MacBook Pro laptops. It will also support standard resolution calls to iPhone, iPod Touch and other Intel based Mac computers. The beta version of the app is already gone from the company's US website and the original link now points to the paid app. Apple is already at the receiving end for its seeming "greediness" and looks like this new paid app is now going to help the company's image. However, given the features of the app, £0.59 is not exactly a big deterrent. What says you?

C’mon. It’s only £0.59 ($0.99 for us Americans). I understand the criticisms of Apple’s supposed greed where their developer fees are concerned, but this isn’t the same thing.
And it is HD as opposed to the free standard definition on other Apple devices.
