Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2 is now available for users to download from Microsoft’s Download Centre.
The first major update for Windows 7 since its release in 200 will fix many of the bugs that have affected Windows Phone 7 and will tweak and update the system so that it is safer and more reliable.
Plus there are a couple of new features that come with SP1 such as RemoteFX, which uses codecs and virtualised graphics to give virtualised desktops a richer media experience. Microsoft claims that this “introduces a new set of end user experience enhancements to remote desktop computing.”
As well as Dynamic Memory which allows dynamic allocation of memory resources to virtual users dependant on their requirements to improve efficiency.
There's nothing really exciting on its way for WP7 users but the update should be well received anyway if it significantly boosts performance.
Most users will automatically get SP1 and the download will vary between 44MB and 1GB depending on the installation method.
Happy Updating!
