Sony Show off Split Screen 3D PS3 TV

Sony have been demoing a new piece of impressive tech – the new dual-view 3D PS3 system that allows 2 players to play on the same display, in the same room without the need for split-screen technology.

The new system which was demonstrated by senior director for SCEE and director of World Wide Studio's 3D Stereoscopic Team, Mick Hocking in London this week.

In the presentation they showed how gamers would be able to play against each other in the same room on the same console on the same TV, without seeing what the other person is doing.

Thanks in part to some very clever advances in 3D technology the system shows a different views depending on where you are sitting in relation to the display.

The technology is similar to Jaguar's new spilt screen dashboard television, which allows passengers to watch television whilst the driver is shown a sat nav display.

The new technology is still under development and no information on pricing or worldwide availability has been released as yet, any more info and we’ll let you know.

  • Sounds like a great piece of kit! It solves a problem to. Using a split screen is a right pain when your used to a full screen.

  • why stop at ps3 games, if the wife can watch tv while I play the ps3 I would be very happy! Quite happy to forfit the sound for an extra few hours gaming!

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
