Lost Your iPhone? Passcodes Will Not Deter Fraudsters from Stealing Your Passwords

Think your iPhone is safe if you have a password and lose your phone? Well, think again as Researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute Secure Information Technology (Fraunhofer SIT) can jailbreak and decrypt passwords from the iPhone’s keychain. This means that things like your Gmail account, work VPN, home WiFi and MS Exchange can all be exploited in just six minutes.

Although there is the Find My iPhone app available for free if you lose your iPhone and will issue a remote wipe command, six minutes is a small amount of time for the fraudster to get hold of your sensitive information on your iPhone. I mean most people don't even realise they have lost their phone way after then so the passcode isn't as foolproof as it seems and if you don't believe us, check out the video below"¦

  • Kind of ridiculous thinking that one of the top wireless developers in our country is being exploited by a foreign country. Regardless, I expect Apple and Steve Jobs will address this issue immediately.
