Finnish company is looking to embrace Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 mobile OS. Recent surveys have shown that Nokia's proprietary mobile OS Symbian is steadily losing market share. So, it is high time that company looks beyond it and start focusing on manufacturing handsets using operating systems designed by outsiders. Since Nokia had been dispelling rumors about it adopting Android, WP7 seems like a natural ally.
Nokia is expected to make a major announcement on 11th of February and Nokia-Microsoft tie up may be that big news. Nokia is currently facing huge competition from handset manufacturers like Samsung and HTC and Microsoft's WP7 has also failed in making a huge impact on mobile OS market. Despite partnering with red hot handset companies, WP7 has not met the expectations. It would be interesting to see how this collaboration works out. It also puts a question mark on the future of Symbian as well as of MeeGo. Nokia is currently collaborating with Intel for the OS designed for smartphone and tablets.
