Samsung Galaxy Tab is considered to be one of the very few tablets which gave an iota of competition to Apple iPad. The companyitself boasted of sales momentum to be "faster than expected" and claimed to hit 2 million mark. But now Samsung has admitted that the figures provided by the company need to be taken with a pinch of salt as 2 million referred to the number of tablets shipped to retailers and not to the tablets bought by the consumers. It also admitted that actual number of tablets bought by consumers was 'quite small'.
However, even this admission did not stop the company executives from saying that although 'sell-out' was not as fast as expected, they believe that the tablet performed fairly well. Recently, there was a market research report claiming that iPad market share has come down to 77 percent from the lofty heights of 95 percent. However, with Samsung's new admission, the report's validity is questionable. So, for now, we can conclude that iPad is still unrivaled and although we saw a number of tablets being introduced during the CES, we will have to wait to see if iPad has got some real competition or not.

No surprise really. People who can’t afford the iPad will automatically go for other options which is why their market share is going down BUT the disappointment of owning another tablet means that most of them won’t buy the upgrade like the Galaxy 2 (if they are silly enough to make it).
However, a lot of people will upgrade to an iPad2 and a lot of new people will buy one because of the new features that they decided they couldn’t live without previously like a camera.
