More rumours pouring cold water on the iPad 2 Retina Display have come our way over the weekend.
According to an analyst in the know, Apple has decided to focus on making the screen better to view in direct sun light, so have concentrated on its anti-reflective features amongst other improvements.
Ming Chi Kuo from Concord Studies in Taiwan claims: "The improvement of iPad 2 display focuses on thickness and anti-reflection, not resolution. iPad 2 display module is 30~35% thinner than iPad 1 and it's helpful for better form factor. Thanks to anti-reflection, iPad 2 could have better sunlight readable experience and it's helpful for Apple to compete with Amazon's fast growing Kindle business."
So, is an analyst from the other side of the world really in the inner circle of what is being kept under lock and key at Cupertino - who knows?
According to Ming, Apple is more concerned with upping the RAM and processor and making it substantially smaller that the current iPad. With the iPad 2 up to 35 per cent thinner than the current model. The processor is also set to be upped to 1.2GHz, a tad slower than some other Apple watchers are predicting.
We’re more than a little disappointed at the thought of a new iPad without a much improved screen – let hope Ming is off the mark.
