3DS will satisfy ‘hardcore gamers’ say Nintendo

The family friendly appeal of the DS may have put off some 'hardcore gamers' after all the console has seen advertisements from the likes of  Carol Vorderman and Ant and Dec  which doesn't do much for its street cred. No doubt the 3DS will stoop to such lows too. 3D cookery. 3D horse-riding SIM and 3D Sudoku are dead certs.

Regardless, UK general manager David Yarnton has said that "Hardcore gamers will be blown away” when they play the Nintendo 3DS.

Speaking at a 3DS event in Amsterdam this week, Yarnton and UK marketing manager James Honeywell insisted that the uniqueness of the 3D handheld will keep core players happy.

“For those people who wear the badge of honour saying ‘I’m a hardcore gamer’, I think they’re just going to be blown away by 3DS because what we’ve got to offer no-one else can,” said Yarnton.

“The game content, the experience, the ease of being able to play against someone else from all around the world… I just think it’s giving them something that’s going to make them go ‘wow’.”

Confident words by the Nintendo team but who can blame them? The thought of a portable 3D games machine is pretty exciting and the possibilities are endless.

Another good point is that it will be “the most affordable 3D entertainment device you can get.” (Thanks Yarnton.)

Though 3D is hot news it's only just become mainstream in the cinemas so for some the Nintendo will indeed be the door to the world of the three dimensions.

But enough of the talk already we want to play!

  • I’m not a hardcore gamer but I love 3D and playing video games in 3D could be the best thing ever! Can’t wait till I can do this on a regular big screen TV without glasses. That will be intense!

  • I am a hardcore and have to say this is the first time I have been seriously interested in buying a Nintendo console!. The 3D does look really cool but its the fact that Nintendo has got the third party support right this time straight from launch with games like Pro Evo and Driver 3D.

I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
