T-Mobile 500 MB Data Cap to Affect New Customers Only

When T-Mobile announced that it would reduce the amount of data its customers could use to only 500 MB I am pretty sure you can imagine there were quite a lot of unhappy souls.

Customers who had signed up to the Android handset tariffs were previously allocated 3GB per month so the drop would have certainly made a big difference.

However, the company confirmed with the BBC that the changes would be introduced to only 'new and upgrading customers' on the 1st of February which is good news for existing customers.

Although, T-Mobile have covered themselves in the data dropping fiasco, it does however open up the opportunity for customers looking for mobile deals to shop elsewhere, especially as T-Mobile data allowance was a driving force for many customers to choose them over their competitors.

What do you think of the data allowance reduction? Do you think this will affect you to shop elsewhere or have T-Mobile done the right thing to offer a better experience for their customers who use internet on their phone? Leave us your thoughts below"¦

  • R.E. Morse

To make it easier to stay within their allowance, T-Mobile customers can also obtain a dial-up modem at 56kbps. and instruction in offpeak time usage.

  • Wonderful news! Now everyone who spent a months wages on a smartphone so they could use the internet have wasted their money!
    Go T-Mobile!

I think if this idiocy continues I will go back to my Nokia 3300, it’s monochrome and it has snake but you don’t need to worry about the internet!

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
