After months and months of rumors, iPhone 4 has finally made its Verizon debut. In an event held in New York today, Apple andVerizon finally made their collaboration official. Verizon is now the second carrier in the US to offer the iconic smartphone. However, despite Verizon touting its 4G network, the Verizon iPhone is only 3G EV-Do compatible. This gives AT&T an upper hand as its data transfer speed is faster than Verizon's 3G EV-DO network. Verizon iPhone also appears to be similar to the current AT&T iPhone.
Tim Cook, COO of Apple, said, "All of Apple is very very happy to bring the iPhone to Verizon’s 93 million customers." Until now, AT&T had an exclusive contract with Apple for marketing the phone. However, lately, customers had been complaining about the performance of AT&T. The company has been ranked poorly in various consumer satisfaction surveys. Verizon will start selling the phone from Feb 10. Although, the company's existing customers can pre-order the phone from Feb. 3. IPhone 4 16 GB has been priced at $200, whereas 32 GB model would cost you $300 with a two year contract.
