Motorola is all set to join the tablet bandwagon with its Droid XOOM slate. The tablet will feature Android 2.4 aka Honeycomb andTegra 2 processor. According to the rumors, the tablet will also be 4G ready, thanks to an optional modem, which would fit into a PCI express slot. Earlier, the tablet was expected to come with embedded 4G capability, but now the feature has been made optional and tablet won't automatically log on to LTE network. Given the fact that LTE deployment is still in the development phase, the new decision certainly makes sense.
Motorola is expected to unveil the tablet next month at Consumer Electronics Show and tablet is likely to hit the store shelves in the month of February. The company is also running a teaser campaign on its website showing the countdown of the days remaining. Motorola has not provided any other information about the tablet and seems like we will have to wait for the CES to get skinny on the specs of the slate.
