iPhone 4 may be the undisputed king of smartphone segment, but there is enough competition around. Google has recently launched an Android smartphone in collaboration with Samsung, Nexus S. So, let's pit these two titans against each other and see which one comes trump.
Display: Both the phones are undoubtedly blessed with darn good looks. iPhone 4 comes with 3.5 inch screen which is capable of displaying 640×960 pixels resolution. Nexus S, on the other hand, has bigger display at 4-inch but relatively smaller resolution of 480×800 pixels. iPhone 4 also boasts of iconic Retina display whereas, Nexus S uses Super AMOLED display screen. Which display is better, is up for debate, but in normal circumstances, Retina Display provides brighter and clearer output.
Appearance: Both iPhone 4 and Nexus S sports minimalistic designs. Nexus S measures 63mmX123.9 mm in comparison to iPhone's 59mmX115mm. Nexus S is also lighter at 129 g whereas iPhone is slightly bulkier at 140g. But iphone 4 manages to trump Nexus S when it comes to the thickness of the handset. iPhone 4, which is touted as the slimmest smartphone in the world is only 0.37" thick whereas Nexus S is 0.43" thick. iPhone 4 also has more polished looks thanks to its stainless steel and glass exterior, which also happens to be more resistant towards scratches, whereas, you need to be more careful with the all-plastic body of Nexus S. In
Operating System: Operating system is one of the most important factors for choosing a smartphone. iOS has an army of its fanboi, but Android is gaining cult loyalty too. iPhone runs proprietary iOS 4, whereas Nexus S has the distinction of being the first Android 2.3 aka Gingerbread equipped handset. iOS's app store might be more densely populated than Android's Market Place, but the number of Android apps are also growing at a fast pace. Nexus S also comes with Near Field Communication or NFC feature, which is absent in iPhone 4.
Technical Nitty-Gritty: Google's latest incarnation of Nexus sports 1GHz processor but so does the iPhone 4. iPhone 4 relies upon its in-house A4 processor, Nexus S, on the other hand, has 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird processor. Both the phones have 512 MB of RAM under their bonnet. You can get iPhone with different storage capacities, but Nexus S comes with only 16 GB of on-board storage. Nexus S has also made a departure from a usual Android practice of offering expandable storage. Nexus S does not have microSD card slot so just like iPhone 4, you got to do with the built-in storage only.
As for the camera, both phones have 5-megapixels cameras with auto-focus and flash functions. For video calling, both the phones have front-facing VGA cameras. However, if you use your camera phone for video recording, then you might want to go for iPhone 4, which is capable of recording 720p HD videos. Nexus S, on the other hand, has restricted its video recording to DVD standard at 720×480 pixels.
It may seem like iPhone 4 still reigns supreme to Nexus S on most of the counts. But the fact that Nexus S is a major improvement over Nexus 1 cannot be overemphasized.

im suprised that any smartphone in the world is still being compared to iphone.
you know who owns iphones? fuckwits who know fuckall about phones and are just acting as a unit of consumption for capatalism.
the fact that iphone has so much hype is the reason why its so popular (sales wise only). any person with half a mind would know Android is the way to go.
sadly 1/4 of this worlds population is retarded. and 1/4 of the total population owns atleast one apple product.
do the math.
I’m board with ios so I am moving to android! Nexus s is
the best android phone on the market.
I just purchased the Samsung Nexus S from Best Buy. Man
this phone is the sh*t. The screen is absolutely amazing and the
processor is hella fast. I will rock this until I see what’s coming
out in the near future with dual core processors and 4G on T
Mobile.
