Sharp are set to release their Galapagos range of tablets, which are looking rather appealing with their release date of December 10th. Unfortunately the Japanese company aren't looking to share their fancy new tablet with anyone else at the moment with a Japan-only release and no word on anything similar heading elsewhere.
As for release prices it seems their 5.5-inch 1024 x 600 resolution model is coming in at ¥39,800 (£303 approx.) and the 10.8-inch 1366 x 800 resolution tablet is going to be higher (naturally) at ¥54,800 (£417 approx.), so don't expect the tablets to be revolutionary in cost (the 10.8-inch model is only ¥4000 (£30) cheaper than the 32GB iPad over there) if they came to the western market.
One of the notable things with the release of these tablets is that Sharp are launching an eBook store for the Galapagos devices. Again, this is looking at a Japan-exclusive thing from Sharp, but who knows maybe the company will think to branch out a little more in the future.
