Microsoft has recently filed a patent application and careful scrutiny of that application reveals that the company might be in the
process of developing a touchscreen keyboard. Touchscreen keyboard is not a virgin territory. Various companies such as Nokia and Acer have tried to conquer it but couldn't quite succeed. However, Microsoft is creating a keyboard with a textured touchscreen. However, the sad part is that the technology won't be used for handheld devices and laptops.
The patent formula contains shape-memory plastic, which when activated by Ultraviolet light, arranges themselves in a grid pattern. Thus the screen will give the faint sensation of using actual physical keyboard. The company has not disclosed the exact usage of this innovation. Although, the company does not plan to implement this concept for mobile devices, but the introduction of this concept might be that one game changing idea which may completely change the way we access our shiny handheld devices.
