Tablets are sure becoming a hot item and now it is Acer's turn to jump into the ring. The company has announced its plans to launch a 10.1 inch Windows based tablet in February, 2011. In April 2011, the company will grace the market with two more tablets. Out of these two tablets, one would have 7 inch screen whereas the other will come with 10.1 inch display. Both the tablets will run on Android. Acer has not provided any details about the launch markets and pricing.
The details about the upcoming tablets sound yummy, but if you are looking for something available for immediate consumption, then Acer also introduced a 4.8 inch Android smartphone and a dual display 14 inch laptop called Iconia. Iconia sports an Intel Core i5 process and is Windows 7 based.
Acer also emphasized the fact that people now need a variety of devices for satiating their different needs. The company has carved a niche for itself in the low price netbook segment, it would be interesting to see if it can replicate its success in the crowded tablet market.
