Myspace and Facebook connect in new deal

MySpace was once the undisputed champion of the social networking world and now, unless you're in a metal band, you probably don't use it. I bet poor Tom never thought it would all come crashing down.

It tried its best but Facebook has proved too strong and now MySpace, admitting defeat is signing an agreement with its arch rival to allow users to sign in to MySpace using their Facebook account.

MySpace said that its new "Mashup with Facebook" feature would allow people to sign in to their MySpace account using their Facebook login. Users will also be able to sync their MySpace and Facebook status updates, and Facebook's "Like" button is being rolled out across MySpace.

"We are thrilled to further our collaboration with Facebook through this deal," said Mike Jones, chief executive of MySpace. "This new feature is a great illustration of our strategy around social entertainment and enabling the real-time stream."

So there you have it, Mybook we all sort of knew it was going to happen and sure, Facebook is hugely popular now, but how long until something gobbles that up too?

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
