Google Docs coming to Froyo and IOS

Google Docs is going mobile. Within the next week Google Docs users will be able to access the cloud-based service from select mobile devices, according to a recent Google blog.

Once the tool is released, mobile phone users with Android based devices running Froyo will be able to view, edit and share documents while on-the-go.

And owners of iOS devices needn't feel left out because this service will also be available on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, running version 3.0 or later. All users need to do to modify existing documents is to visit docs.google.com in a mobile Safari Web browser and hit the edit button on the top of the page.

Users will be able to amend already-created documents and edit spreadsheets in real time, but will not have the ability to generate new texts, change fonts, add images or perform any advanced editing tasks unlike the desktop version. Furthermore, the document needs to have been created under Google’s new editing program for it to be viewable via a mobile device.

But despite the restrictions it's a service which many people will find useful and with Cloud about to explode onto the scene Google is showing that it is primed and ready to go.

Another big plus for the service is that Android owners will be able to modify documents using Google’s talk-to-text feature.

Documents on the go for Froyo. Great news unless you're still waiting for an update.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
