Google Voice App Finally Arrives at Apple Store

After initial tussle, Google Voice has formally arrived at Apple Store. The app was initially rejected by Apple andthe ensuingcontroversy had led to scrutiny by federal authorities. So, now let's just the bygones be bygones as the app is available for download now. On its part, Google made the announcement on its blog that the app "was resubmitted, reviewed and approved and joins the more than 300,000 apps in the app store." The company had earlier made a public complaint about the rejection of its app in July 2009.

Google Voice has some neat features such as cheap international call rates and free texting to US numbers. It also provides Voicemail transcription. Google Voice will also place your calls via Direct Access Numbers so the connection is about as smooth as the regular connection. The app will also allow you to integrate all your different phone numbers such as home, work and personal numbers.

The service requires you to have a Google Voice account and it is currently available only in the United States.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
