Dell Inspiron Duo Tablet Could Land Next Week

Dell’s rather unique screen-flipping netbook and tablet hybrid, the Inspiron Duo could be available to buy as early as this time next week (23rd November). According to CNET, this information is coming from industry sources ‘familiar’ with the launch plans of the device. Pre-sale orders of the device are expected to be available from the Dell site later this week.

Aside from having it’s rather unique and incredible screen flip feature which allows transition between keyboard and screen, and using the 10-inch display as a touch screen tablet, the hybrid is sporting some high end specs to go with what some may simply dismiss as a gimmick product, running Windows 7 and using a dual-core atom processor. Although the flip that Dell has used is indeed something unseen with any device so far, similar concepts do exist, such as the swivel screen using HP EliteBook 2740p. Unfortunately this device was made primarily as a laptop, so comes with a rather hefty price tag which Dell seems to intend to much lower the bar on.

Dell has already stated that the Inspiron Duo is intended as a strong rival to Apple’s iPad, giving a little dig at tablet device altogether with marketing executive of Dell, Dave Zavelson saying, “There are times that you have to do work. Tablets are great for entertainment, but they aren’t exactly conducive to productivity” at the Intel Developer Conference in Sepetmber, and then following with the revealing of the keyboard.

I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
