PC World Website Shows The Advent Vega

Yesterday, we told you that the Advent Vega tablet is coming sometime after Thursday this week across Dixons stores, but they are not alone in the release of the promising tablet. The PC World website is now showing the device in full glory with all it’s specifications and the very pleasant price tag. Don’t get too excited yet though because clicking the “Buy now” button will do nothing and at the moment the site says the device is neither available for home delivery or reservation at this time.

Although the device was originally going to come out November 1st, Advent purposely delayed the tablet to improve and change it slightly so their first tablet to hit the market will be one to look out for.

Although the tablet has a low price-tag of £249, the device is anything but sub-standard. The tablet’s specifications include: A 10.1” LCD WSVGA display with 1024 x 600 HD resolution, Android 2.2 Froyo, an NVIDIA T20 Tegra 2 processor, a USB dock and HDMI output, a 512MB flash drive and a MicroSD card slot which can take cards up to 32GB (a 4GB is included with the tablet), built in webcam and microphone, and 802.11bg WiFi with Bluetooth 2.1.

The tablet is showing off a 6 hour battery life when playing constant 1080p video, suitable for anything but marathons, with 4 day stand-by and 16 hour screen-off audio. The Advent Vega is definitely looking promising and the price tag may make this one hard to resist for the shopping season.

Does anybody know the exact release date for the Advent Vega? This has now been taken off the Currys and PC World website and I am desparate to get my hands on one asap!

  • I just called the PC World sales line and (eventually) got to speak with someone who told me that it had been delayed a further two weeks and was not expected before the end of November at the earliest. Meh.

  • All well and good, but try finding it on their website/s today!! It aint there!!

I have now found it on PC World and Currys website and have in purchased one. Good luck to everyone else trying to get hold of one!

Although saying that, even though it has been purchased, my order is still pending……..so lets wait and see

  • Yep it’s onlin for purchase but it’s not available in store. Called in one of those new PCworld/currys superstore today. The guy checked stocks and there’s nothing showing in the main distro centres. However it is on the system which means it’ll be here within 7-10 days. So that’s the 1st December then

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
