So, the wait is over and Facebook is out with its all-in-one messaging client. The social networking site's new tool is capable of pooling your emails, Facebook notes and text and instant messages and as if we already do not have enough of Facebook in our life, now we can just go ahead and get our own "facebook.com" address. The new messaging client will feature an inbox exclusively for your Facebook friends and contacts and another one for other messages and mail.
Zuckerberg also claimed that email has lost favor with young users for being slow. Although, he also added that the new tool will take some time to overtake email. According to the latest tally, Facebook witnesses the exchange of more than four billion messages daily. Although, it is too soon to gauge the challenge that the new service can pose to established email clients such as Yahoo and Google, but keeping in view the massive user base of Facebook, one can easily assume that it cannot be taken lightly. Facebook currently boasts of a user base of 500 million people, whereas Hotmail and Yahoo currently have 361.7 million and 273.1 million users respectively. Gmail trails with 193.3 million subscribers.
Lately, Facebook has been at the center of many controversies, mainly because of its users' data handling practices. So, what is your view about the new platform? Would you be willing to submit your confidential emails and messages to Facebook's mercy?
