Lenovo has announced that it plans to release its LePad in the US in 2011. LePad will compete with Apple's iPad and other tablets such as Samsung's Galaxy Tab and Dell's Streak. Lenovo has not provided any price point for the tablet. The tablet will simultaneously be launched in China as well. The company has also started a $15.1 million investment program for funding the mobile app development for the new tab. The company had recently launched LePhone in China.
Lenovo is currently fourth biggest PC maker in the world. On the shipment basis, the company is just behind HP, Dell and Acer. The company is also focusing on gaining market share in emerging markets. The company is still contemplating the operating system to be used for the tablet. Earlier, Lenovo had promised to release the tablet by the end of the year. Apparently, the launch has now been delayed to 201. The company is also now considering using Google's Chrome operating system on its computers but it refused to provide any other details.
