Tesco is looking to make a foray into the international phone calls market. The company is planning to launch a global calling cardwhich will let you make low-cost phone calls to over 60 countries. Normally, people use either conventional phone services or VoIP for making international calls. Although, VoIP calls are considerably cheaper than conventional international phone calls, the quality of the calls is greatly dependant on the quality of your network connection.
Tesco is likely to start selling its calling cards by the end of this year. The cards will be available in all its stores and are usable with any mobile, landline or payphone. Tesco has claimed that there will not be any hidden charges and although, the card does not offer any free calls, it does offer services for various countries which generally are not included in most of the home phone packages.
Tesco has estimated that the users can stretch their £5 card to make 225 minutes' worth of calls. The company is planning to market the cards as a supplement to regular calling plans. It certainly looks a good fit for people who have to make frequent overseas calls. What do you think?
