Most of the corporate have a long history of hits and misses. Some products which never should have been conceptualized in thefirst place, make it to the market and get bombed (Read Micorosoft Kin and other such unfortunate products) and other times, companies reject the brilliant ideas only to see other companies picking them and making a big fortune (Read Nokia rejecting an iPhone-esque device idea).
Now, we have a new one on the list. Microsoft is getting pretty good reviews for its Kinect technology, which many claims can be a harbinger of many a great things to come. But do you know that this technology could actually have gone to Steve Job's kitty. PrimeSense, the company responsible for Kinect's camera', had first approached Apple with its motion sensing technology. The company however later opted out of the talks. Ostensibly, the company CEO Inon Beracha found Apple "a pain in the a**"
Beracha decided to leave Apple's shore on being asked "to sign a stack of crippling legal agreements and NDAs". Eventually, the company received feelers from Microsoft and now Bill Gates expect to sell 5 million units of kinect equipped Xbox.

I have to confess, I’ve been an enormous Undertaking Natal/Kinect sceptic ever because it was introduced with that sham Milo walkthrough and an awful lot of hyperbole. I’ve been attempting to maintain an open thoughts but the various rumours that have circulated about house, lighting and multiplayer issues have been a trigger for concern. The advertising resolution that Microsoft took to place this within the hands of mainstream journalists and celebrities fairly than anybody who really has expertise and experience writing about gaming was extraordinarily worrying.
