If you see the word Android and update in the same sentence, you expect to find 'delay', or 'problems' stuffed in there too. You can't fault Google for keeping their OS fresh. There's nothing more exciting than a new update rolling onto your phone, bringing a stack of new features with it but with the traditionally problematic update and with handsets floating around that won't be compatible with future updates (I.e. the budget Android handsets which couldn't handle much more than Eclair) are we all carrying handsets with outdated systems?
You'd think that half the world is running on cupcake and donut and that Froyo was just for royalty. But according to Google’s latest data (collected from the Android Market during the two weeks leading to November 1) 77 percent of Android smartphones are running either 2.1 or 2.2.
Broken down, the stats say that,
8 percent of the smartphones are running Android 2.1
36.2 percent are running 2.2
15 percent of Android smartphones are still running Android 1.6,
7.9 percent are running Android 1.5.
Well, there's the figures make what you want of them. IMO the 'Android Market' isn't the most reliable source of information.
What version of Android OS are you running?
