Google Chrome OS: Could It Be Launched This Month?

Google, who have had much success out of their mobile operating system Android, seem to be getting ready to launch a computer operating system - Chrome OS - later this month. The Chrome OS has been rumoured as far back as November last year, with little word on the computer operating system going round from any official sources.

The rumour of a release coming so soon has come from anonymous "component players" in Asia, who have said that they will start shipping pre-installed Chrome OS devices in the coming weeks.

This new rumour compliments a previous rumour back in the summer from tech manufacturers Acer, who claimed they were planning on releasing Chrome OS devices before the end of the year. However, they later retracted that statement, but we could still be seeing this possibility.

There have also been rumours of a self-branded Chrome OS device which is expected to be revealed the same time as the operating system.

Google have been remaining very secretive on the matter of their computer operating system, and so far they have not confirmed any rumours circling around the operating system, but if the rumours are true we could look forward to having some strong competition in the computer market this shopping-heavy season.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
