Apple is likely to introduce its next generation iPad in the first quarter of 2011. However, the buzz around it suggests that the device
may come equipped with two cameras. The forward facing camera will serve for FaceTime video chat.
The rumors have apparently been fuelled by an assertion of an investment firm, which has claimed that one of the Apple's suppliers is gearing up to supply a second 5 megapixel camera. If these rumors are true than iPad will be joining iPhone and iPod Touch, which already have FaceTime video chat feature. Talking of competition, Samsung's Galaxy Tab already has two cameras.
It is widely known that Apple is trying to give a big push to its FaceTime video chat connectivity. FaceTime connectivity is now optimized for Mac Platform as well as the iPhone 4 and iPod Touch. AppleInsider also reported that iPad with FaceTime support has already reached advanced testing stage.
A slew of competing tablets is likely to hit the market during the holiday season. It would be interesting to see how the competition holds itself up against iPad. Is there any particular tablet that you are looking forward to? Let us know.
