Apple are evil. They want to buy-out every music streaming website there is and kill it so the world is forced to turn to iTunes. They shut Lala down last year and rumour has it that Spotify is next. Please Steve, anything but my precious Spotify.
The foundation of the rumour is essentially that Apple has a tonne of money to burn. Around $50 odd-billion floating in the piggy bank, apparently.
"What are they going to buy?" asks the internet. Some say Facebook; after a Jobs, Zuckerberg lunch, but that seems unlikely to me. They probably just moaned about Windows for a couple of hours whilst chewing on the bones of us peasants.
Others say the money is going Spotify's way. TechCrunch is reporting that Apple and the Spotify syndicate from Stockholm have been having “on-again, off-again” discussions regarding a possible deal.
It is thought that whilst Apple were destroying Lala, Google were close to sealing a $1 billion Spotify takeover deal. If that's true, then a company with 49 more Billion to offer should be able to work something out.
And if the rumours prove to be true what then? Will Apple really stomp Spotify into the ground or will they integrate it into iTunes or maybe offer it up as a free app on their iPads/iPhones.
What do you think?
