RIM has opened an online portal for BlackBerry users who want to browse for apps on a larger screen. Great idea, but it seems a little, familiar, to me. Anyway it's good news for those BlackBerry users with eye-strain.
The web-based application store synchronises with a plugged-in BlackBerry device after BlackBerry users install a required plug-in extension. The process also requires an online ID, but thankfully, RIM has provided comprehensive help on 'getting your BlackBerry apps' if the whole process gets a bit confusing.
For those not up-to-date with BB App World online; Version 1 of BlackBerry App World already allows browsing for apps but users can only ask request an application to be sent to a BlackBerry via an SMS link.
But now with super-duper version 2, applications can be downloaded and installed directly.
It's another long overdue move by RIM who are taking things worryingly slow when it comes to their BlackBerry devices. Are they aware of Android and Windows Phone 7. Somebody should tell them it's not just them against Apple anymore.
