There were times when we eagerly awaited for Windows OS upgrade. Yes, those were the times of Windows Vista. However, thingschanged a bit with the launch of Windows 7, which may not be best OS around, but still was a major improvement over the utterly macabre experience of Windows Vista. However, the company is working on Windows 8 but if we believe Microsoft Netherlands, then the version is still two years away. This makes sense, as even windows 7 appeared good 3 years after the Vista launch. The company is currently celebrating the first anniversary of Windows 7.

The company is also in the process of phasing out Windows XP completely. Microsoft has already stopped support for XP and now has stopped selling it to PC manufacturers. You can look forward to Windows 7 Service Pack 1 at some time in the first half of 2011. The service pack is currently going through its testing phase and is likely to be available during the above stated time frame. And if Windows 8 has to be released in 2012, then we expect the beta to be available some time next year. So, what are your expectations from the next iteration of the operating system.

“Microsoft has already stopped support for XP”

Just mainstream support. Extended support goes until 2014.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
