Blizzcon 2010 convention is underway in California and Dustin Browder, lead designer of Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty, has let out a little secret. The designer said that Blizzard, the company behind the game, had to scrimp on graphics and contents of the game, so as to make it more amenable to e-sporting. E-sporting mainly denotes the concept of playing video professionally for winning prizes. Apparently, Blizzard is interested in keeping some of its games for e-sport segment and for attaining this goal, it makes sure that the game is fast to load and play.

Professional gaming is already very popular in countries such as South Korea and now its popularity is spreading to other countries as well. At Blizzcon, champions of the Warcraft III and Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty have been awarded $25,000 each. Browder also said that he expects e-sports mania to grow even further. However, if you are sad that 'greed' is undercutting the quality of your gaming experience, then cheer up. The designer went on to say that not every game can be customized for e-sports. Blizzard is expected to come out with Diablo III soon, which Browder has claimed, won't be recognizable if sliced down for professional gaming. So, instead of lamenting for Starcraft loss, let's just rejoice that our Diablo III is still pristine.

I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
