Apple has moved on to use Retina display for most of its gadgets and now it seems like the company is looking to reduce thepowerconsumption of its displays. The company has filed a new patent application titled "Staggered Line Inversion and Power Reduction System and Method for LCD Panels." Phew, Long name, but the essence of this application is to introduce new "inversion techniques" for the LCD displays, so that these displays consume lesser power and hence lead to longer battery life. The displays are meant to be use for MacBooks and iPhone.
The new technique will also improve the refresh techniques used by the current displays. Apple has claimed that the current technique is not very conducive for eyes. So, the company is now looking at various options such staggered inversions with one line, two lines or any combinations. For end users, it would mean LCD panels with lower eye stress level and power consumption.
Apple had lately been concentrating on better displays. It had introduced in-plane switching technology for its iPads which lets you have better viewing angle. Later, Apple also introduced this technique to iPhone 4. Well, Apple go ahead, we wouldn't mind having a better display and longer lasting batteries, Would we?
