Glugstop – to stop you glugging too much…

The only problem with drinking wine is that a bottle disappears suspiciously fast when you’re enjoying it with a film. All too sudden you’re no longer sure how much you’ve had and if you’ve crossed the line into binge drinker territory. End such woes with a Glugstop.

According to the NHS women who drink more than two large glasses of wine a day on a regular basis are at increased risk of high blood pressure (twice as likely as a non-drinker), breast cancer (60% more likely) and strokes (1.5 times more likely). Glugstop inventor Sarah Saunders heard these statistics and took action.

The Glugstop slots into the top of a standard wine bottle and pours out exactly one unit of alcohol, decreasing your chance of over indulging on the 14 units recommended weekly for women. A prefect seasonal gift for anyone you know who might have too Merry a Christmas…

Will be available from www.glugstop.co.uk for £8.95

  • Sounds like a great idea – will certainly be getting one for my girlfriend this Christmas!

  • Er, how does it tell the difference between a bottle of 7.5% ABV wine (Mosel Riesling) and a bottle of 15% ABV wine (Barossa Shiraz)?

  • I think it just takes it from a standard bottle of wine which is about 8% isn’ it? (correct me if I’m wrong there!).

  • Jason

A standard bottle is 12-13% these days!

  • Well I would guess thats what it will be based on then. But I’ll have a look round see if I can find any more details.

I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
