Microsoft and Facebook are holding an event later today which is expected to heavily aid Bing against its dominating competition, Google. The event scheduled for today is being held at Bing HQ with Facebook being invited along. It's expected the two companies will announce their new partnership which could see a mesh between various services from both Bing and Facebook in the near future.
It is already known that the two companies are on good grounds with each other, with Microsoft obtaining just 1.6% of the social network for $240 million back in 2007, and Microsoft announcing they will be putting Facebook updates into Bing search last year.
The most likely thing to be brought up is the integration of Facebook data into Bing and using their famous like button to help users with search relevancy. This is seen as something to pre-emptively combat Google Me.
Asside from this, there is also speculation of a merge between Facebook Places and Bing Maps, making the possibility of mapping out your friends easier so Facebook Places can tear itself away from its comparisons to Foursquare.
It is very clear that this close alliance is all intended to take on Google's heavy dominance on the search engine market and decrease their shares while increasing Bing's, with Facebook having no particularly clear/alterior motives at this time.
