According to a survey conducted by mobile transaction network mBlox, 90% of consumers are in favor of the use of multi-channel
options for interacting with businesses and SMS has emerged to be the most preferred method. 59 percent of the UK mobile users have counted SMS as their preferred choice for appointment reminders. US consumers are lagging behind a bit and only 17% consumers said 'aye' to the above question. Similarly, almost 33% UK consumers prefer SMS reminders for bill payments, whereas only 10% of the US users are comfortable with this.
The coupon use for shopping is also popular among users and more than 75% of the consumers use coupons for shopping. However, in comparison to 29% of UK consumers, only 15% US consumers opt for mobile coupon. We expect these numbers to rise, as 71% UK and 42% US mobile users expressed their wish to receive mobile coupons while shopping in a store. Overall, it looks like that US consumers are taking their sweet time getting used to mobile services, but expect the numbers to improve as mobile penetration in the US catches up to the UK rates.
