Why Windows Phone 7 is set for a UK release, Piracy in China, Businesses reluctance to connect: The Microsoft CEO lecture.

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has been saying some pretty interesting things in a Lecture to London School of Economics students including that "Piracy in China is twenty times worse than the UK and twelve times worse than in India and that, coupled with China's growing economic power, makes him "nervous."

On another note, Ballmer also said that "While consumers had embraced the always-on connectivity that is possible with smartphones and similar devices, business had been slower to see the potential" and he called on governments to "See the potential for efficiencies through the use of cloud based services."

And he praised the UK's role as home to great innovators, both as app creators and as consumers keen to embrace new technologies and said that this is one reasons why the new Windows 7 phone will have its global launch here.

“We know that this is a place where if we get a product right, we’ll get a good early reception,” he said.

The lecture was apparently: 'Seizing the Opportunity of the Cloud: the Next Wave of Business Growth’ translated I think that's: How to be the next greedy corporate b*****d  but my translating may be a bit iffy.

So what do you think about Steve's comments? Is he right to worry about China and is the UK the home of innovation?

Let us know.
