One of the main thorns in the side of 3D TV is the expensive and uncomfortable glasses needed to watch it. Since 3D TV started getting big we've heard 'no glasses' this and 'no glasses that' but many companies are yet to deliver.
Toshiba on the other hand though are adamant that they have created today's 'dream TV.'
The new 3-D liquid crystal display TVs, will go on sale in Japan in December. They use a high-definition screen backlit with LEDs, a special sheet placed on top of the screen and Toshiba's CELL chip technology to display information from nine images created in real time from a single frame.
The TVs can convert standard 2-D images into 3-D and will come in 20-inch and 12-inch models, with price tags of 240,000 yen and 120,000 yen. A prototype 56 inch version of the 3-D TV has been paraded around by Toshiba to prove that they can bring out larger versions of the TV in the future.
Analysts had said 3D TV makers need to eliminate glasses to appeal to a wider audience and we're starting to see the start of this advancement. We're still a very long way off from 3D in every home but its prospects are longer stronger and stronger at the moment.
But Toshiba aren't being too hopefully just yet and plan to sell a modest 1,000 units of the glasses-less 3-D TVs a month.
And with Toshiba currently having no plans to sell the TVs overseas God knows when or if we'll ever see the TV here in the UK. Chances are LG are testing the water in Japan and if they hit their 1000 target they may go global. Or maybe not.

I suppose you will have to sit a certain distance from the tv?
The problem with this type of technology is that its not a TV that yields “in your face” moments so is only limited to dimensions from the screen and back!
