LG will not release a tablet device on Froyo

A little while ago Google themselves warned manufacturers that their Android 2.2 OS, AKA Froyo was not designed for tablets and that any companies who popped the latest version onto their device would do so at their own peril.

The message was to hold out for the later Honeycomb and Gingerbread operating systems which Google will design with the growing number of tablet devices in mind.

But despite Google's warning there has still been whisperings of Froyo devices making an appearance and it seems as though some would rather rush out hardware with 2.2 and risk compatibility problems than to wait for an upgrade.

Not LG though. An unnamed official has 'categorically written off the possibility of his company producing an Android 2.2 tablet.' The mystery LG informer has said that his company wants “the most suitable version [of Android] for our tablet and that is not Froyo 2.2.”

LG's patience follows Motorola's plans to hold out until at least the next iteration of Google’s mobile OS before tossing 'iPad Killers' into the market.

Some Android fans who were expecting an imminent LG pad release may be disappointed, but we're sure it will be worth the wait.

  • Why wait? when the best is already in the market, optimized and ready to go. Why wait for a future Toyota when a similar priced BMW is already in the showroom. Get the iPad.

  • Technology is so fast that while they are waiting for the correct version to arrive another better version will come in a very short while.

I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
