Amazon is not letting up on its Kindle mission. Determined to be the undisputed E-reading champion the online store has now spread the Kindle's wings even further as yesterday they unveiled a test version of the “Kindle for the Web” application.

The app allows users to read a book’s first chapter online without having to download Kindle software or buy a Kindle e-reading device.

The new web service will also allow developers to embed book excerpts on their websites and earn referral fees when purchases are made by clicking links on those sites.

The new online app is similar to Amazon’s “Look Inside” feature, which allows prospective buyers to read the first few pages of a book before buying online, however the Kindle app provides users with the benefit of being able to change the font size and format of the text.

Amazon already offers Kindle apps for an array of devices, including the iPhone, iPad, Android smartphones and BlackBerry handsets and its latest move further increases the range of Kindle.

I expect that we’ll see a nice increase in books sales and kindle hardware sales in the near future. It seems shareholders are convinced as Amazon shares rose $1.35 to $160.72 after the move.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
