Recently, BlackBerry introduced its latest Tablet PlayBook. Although, the company did not indicate its price or the launch date, but
now we have plenty of rumors about the pricing aspect at least. Bloomberg has reported that RIM might price its Tablet in $300-$350 price range. It quoted John Jackson, a CCS Insight analyst, as saying that Research in Motion is trying to gain foothold in a crowded market segment. However, he said that RIM has designed its product well and is expected to fight the competition at the price point level.
The analyst also said that PlayBook is an initial point in the company's strategy to create a wide portfolio of QNX devices. PlayBook will come with 7-inches screen and Wi-Fi compatibility. However, the company is expected to add 3G and 4G support some time later. It will sport 1024X600 resolution and 1 GB of RAM. Other features are front and rear facing camera and 1GHz processor. With these specs, the given price level seems unrealistic, but hey, dreams do come true sometimes. The Tablet is expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2011. Till then, let's keep dreaming.
