Every day comes with a yet another company announcing its tablet plans, but as a consumer, we are not going to complain. The more the merrier, especially if the new entrant is from the House of BlackBerry. After lots of teasing, RIMM may finally unveil its tablet next week at San Francisco developer conference.
Sometime back, the company had snagged a web domain named Blackpad and seems like the company will be sticking with this moniker. BlackPad is expected to come with a seven inch touch screen, which will render it closer to Samsung Galaxy Tab than to iPad. Wall Street Journal has reported that the tab may have one or two cameras.
However, scoop is that RIMM may not use its BlackBerry 6 OS for the tablet and rather favor the operating system developed by QNX Software Systems. RIMM had bought QNX Systems earlier this month. Apparently, QNX OS has some favorable reviews in its kitty. The tablet will feature broadband connection but will connect with cellular networks only via BlackBerry phones. So, let's wait for SanFran Convention to kick in.
