Nokia N8 delayed until October.

Nokia is fast becoming the Pete Doherty of smartphone manufacturers. 'We're coming back in a big way' they keeping telling us. But then they let us down.We all hoped for MeeGo to make an appearance at Nokia World, but it missed the gig and the Symbian trio had to fill in for it. And now as the long anticipated N8 handset gets close to its release time of 'the end of September' Nokia have announced that it is going to be fashionably late and eager fans will be forced to wait until October for it. (When it probably won't turn up.)

And their defence: "the amount of preorders has exceeded our expectations and we are working hard to deliver the Nokia N8 to the market. In some markets, we had planned to start delivering the Nokia N8s to our pre-order customers by the end of September. To ensure a great user experience, we have decided to hold the shipments for a few weeks to do some final amends. We're thrilled with the response that we've had to the Nokia N8 and assure everyone who've pre-ordered it already that it'll be worth the wait! We expect consumers to get their Nokia N8s during October."

Mixed feelings in the Nokia camp then. It's great to see that pre-orders are high and 'expectations have been exceeded' but will customers really be silenced with, "it's worth the wait."

As you've probably heard, The Nokia N8 features a 3.5 inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 640 x 360 pixels, and it features 16GB of built in storage, plus a microSD card slot that can take up to 32GB cards. Plus a 12 megapixel camera with a Carl Zeiss lens and a Xenon flash. So it may well be, worth the wait.

What are your feelings about Nokia's shoddy performance in recent months? The handsets and technology are there but the service isn't exactly top notch.
